It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Namaste Cyprus 2026, the High Commission of India's flagship celebration of Indian culture in Cyprus.

This year's festival comes at a particularly significant moment in India–Cyprus relations. In May 2026, our two countries elevated their relationship to a Strategic Partnership, opening a new chapter built on longstanding friendship, mutual trust and a shared commitment to the future. The adoption of a new Cultural Cooperation Framework for 2026–2030 has given further momentum to the people-to-people dimension of this partnership.

Namaste Cyprus 2026 is, in many ways, the human face of this growing relationship. Agreements give a partnership its structure; it is people who give it life. Every artist who performs, every visitor who discovers something new, every shared meal and conversation creates a connection that brings our societies closer.

​

The word "Namaste" carries a spirit of respect, warmth and welcome. Through this festival, India says Namaste to Cyprus, inviting our Cypriot friends to experience a country of extraordinary diversity, where ancient traditions flourish alongside remarkable contemporary transformation. India's story cannot be captured through any single art form, region or tradition; it lives in the rhythms of its music and dance, the imagination of its craftspeople, the diversity of its cuisines and the creativity of its young people. It is the story of a civilisation deeply rooted in its heritage, yet constantly evolving.

Namaste Cyprus is, therefore, not simply a showcase of India, it is an invitation to experience India. Culture has a unique ability to cross boundaries, allowing us to understand one another beyond official meetings and formal agreements. A melody communicates without translation; a dance tells a story without words; a shared cultural experience can create a friendship that outlasts the event itself. India and Cyprus understand this instinctively. Both are heirs to ancient civilisations, proud of their history, yet outward-looking and deeply connected with the wider world, and the warmth with which Indian culture is received here reflects that natural affinity between our peoples.

As we look ahead to 2027, when India and Cyprus will mark 65 years of diplomatic relations, Namaste Cyprus 2026 assumes even greater significance. It is a reminder that while our partnership rests on decades of friendship, its future will be shaped by new generations of Indians and Cypriots, through culture, education, business, tourism, innovation and countless personal connections.

I express my sincere appreciation to our partners, participating artists, organisations, supporters and members of the Indian community whose enthusiasm and commitment have made this celebration possible. Above all, I thank the people of Cyprus for their friendship, curiosity and warm embrace of India and its culture.
