Paani Puri
Pan-India

🥒 Paani Puri
🍛 Description: Hollow, crispy puris filled with spicy-tangy water (paani), mashed potatoes, chickpeas, and sweet chutney. Each bite is a burst of textures and flavours — crisp, spicy, sour, and sweet all at once.
📍 Origin: Believed to have originated in Magadh (ancient Bihar), now a nationwide favourite known as Golgappa in the North and Puchka in Bengal.
🌿 Fun Fact: In India, friends often have “paani puri eating contests”, seeing who can eat the most without the puri breaking early!
Cypriot Parallel: Like crispy bite-sized pitas, but filled with spiced water and tangy fillings — a taste unlike anything else in Cyprus.
👉 Crunch, splash, and flavour explosion!
